CurriculumKey Stage 1
In Key Stage 1, we build upon the strong foundations established in Early Years, helping children develop the essential knowledge, skills and confidence outlined in the National Curriculum. Our aim is to nurture curious, resilient and independent learners who are ready to grow academically, socially and emotionally.
Through engaging, topic-based learning and our school values, children are encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas and develop a lifelong love of learning. Lessons are carefully designed to be meaningful, hands-on and inspiring, helping children make connections across their learning and wider world.
We have high expectations for every child while providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can feel confident to take risks, learn from mistakes and celebrate their achievements. Teaching is adapted to meet individual needs, ensuring all children are supported and challenged to achieve their personal best.
Learning extends beyond the classroom through educational visits, outdoor learning opportunities and enriching experiences that bring the curriculum to life. We also value the strong partnerships we build with parents and carers, recognising that children thrive when home and school work together.
The Difference We Make
We are committed to helping all children make strong progress and achieve age-related expectations while celebrating each child’s individuality. Progress is monitored through assessments, observations, self-reflection and personalised targets.
By the end of Key Stage 1, children leave with secure foundations, growing confidence and enthusiasm for learning, preparing them for the next stage of their education.
